About
It all began in the summer of 2010. I was researching dog training certification programs in the New England area, when I stumbled upon former Mt. Ida College’s “Canine Behavior and Training” certificate program. Only problem: I needed a dog to bring with me to school, and my 13-year-old childhood dog, Chewee, wasn’t up for the challenge of learning any new tricks, so I hit the internet and began my search for the perfect first dog. And boy did I hit the jackpot! My new best friend would take the shape of a little orange-red chihuahua/Pomeranian mix I affectionately named Jalapeño, Jal (“Hal”) for short! Little did I know at the time, but this tiny, 3.5lb puppy would be both my biggest challenge and greatest teacher.
Yes, some would consider him a “bad dog “ (and he kinda was…). He hated most people, dogs and had health issues from a very young age. But that didn’t stop us for a moment! That’s right, this little angry chihuahua mix traveled all over the country with me, went on all sorts of adventures, and garnered attention everywhere he went! Even though he was a “bad dog” he still sparked this warmth in everyone he met, especially me. I lost my best friend on December 5, 2022 and my world has never been the same. But I know Jal would never want to see my dreams of helping dogs and their owners simply stop, and so my right hand lady, Auntie Noey and I began brainstorming for the future. It was then that the idea of BAD DOG CLUB began to grow, and we are finally here to tell you this: no matter your dogs’ breeds, age, temperament and limitations, there is hope and there is possibility! We want to be the place for all the misfits to finally fit in! We can’t wait to show the world all that BAD DOG CLUB has to offer and hope you are ready to join us on the next exciting adventure!! -Amy Kisiel, Dog&Human Trainer |
